Fire Shrimp / Blood Shrimp

This shrimp is most active at night and prefers an aquascape with caves and overhangs so the lighting is not too intense during the day. The Blood Red Shrimp will tolerate a mate but others of its own kind will be chased away unless kept in a very spacious aquarium. It is generally peaceful with most others in the reef unless they encroach on its territory. As a "cleaner shrimp," the Blood Red Shrimp will set up cleaning stations and remove dead tissue and parasites from fish that allow it. Also a scavenger this shrimp will look for meaty items in the tank.  Similarly to other invertebrates, the Blood Red Shrimp will not tolerate copper or high levels of nitrates.
